Three gates, and the East Gate is usually easiest
The Taj Mahal has three visitor gates — East, West and South. We typically drop visitors at the East Gate, which is usually less crowded than the West Gate. Your driver will advise the best gate for the day and time of your visit.
The car cannot go right up to the monument
Private vehicles cannot enter the no-vehicle zone around the Taj Mahal. Your driver parks at the designated lot, and a short walk or a battery-operated cart covers the final stretch. Lockers are available near the gates for bags and electronics not permitted inside.
Closed every Friday
The Taj Mahal is closed to sightseeing visitors every Friday, open only to those attending prayers at the mosque inside the complex. Plan your visit on any other day of the week.
